Review of Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist (1997) by Michael S — 13 Dec 2007
Fascinating and painful. The former, because sadomasochism is still a predominantly counterculture topic that is hardly mainstream or taken seriously. Bob Flanagan is a fascinating man as well, talented, intelligent, terminally ill and a masochist.
It's painful because obviously he dies at the end and it's one of the hardest things I've ever had to watch. But I mean that in a good way.
