Review of Shine a Light (2008) by Michael N — 15 Jun 2008
The best film I've seen so far this year. Scorsese matches and surpasses his legendary "Last Waltz" concert film; where that was a eulogy for a lost era, this is a celebration of the longevity and importance of the Stones.
The performances are so intimately directed that you feel like you're onstage. The song selection and guest spots are also killer. This is Stop Making Sense for the new generation, and I'm pretty sure the soundtrack is essential for rock fans.
