Review of Shanghai Kiss (2007) by Jerome A — 20 Oct 2007

I thought this movie was going to be crap. But it turned out to be pretty good! I do feel like I can relate to Liam Liu (played by Leung, who finally gets a lead role! I wonder how much of it was a mirror of his own acting career?).

Ken Leung used to be so cute in Rush Hour and even X-3! What happened? Haha! Kelly Hu is always a pleasure to see... ALWAYS!... but Hayden Panettiere was a HUGE surprise! I LOVED her in this film! I loved her too in Ally McBeal, but she's awful in Heroes! Haha. I would recommend this film to all those who are wrestling with their identities and who feel oppressed in the environment in which they live.
