Review of Sergeant Rutledge (1960) by Larry S — 11 Sep 2008
A very dated and (I think) poorly-written western/courtroom drama, and possibly one of John Ford's weakest efforts, but while watching it, I couldn't help wondering if Rob Reiner had this movie in mind while developing "A Few Good Men.
" Woody Strode as the title character makes this one worth watching, though, as he plays the accused Buffalo Soldier as an almost-marble man, which makes his scene in the courtroom later in the film all the more powerful.
You should give it a chance if you stumble across it while channel-flipping some time.
