Review of Samurai Spy (1965) by Patryk C — 25 Jul 2012
What's great about this movie? Almost everything, starting with great performances, stunning cinematography, fast-paced action sequences, mysterious samurai warriors, undeniable Japanese aura, rapid ninjas, some romance, the subtle noir-like atmosphere.
What's not so great? The plot, which is basically a labyrinth build up of a puzzling plot-subplots combination, making it overly complex, and when the viewer looses his focus for even a moment, he might have troubles with discovering what's going on.
Nevertheless, Samurai Spy comes an art house production of the highest sort and a thrilling companion to other, more famous, titles in the category.
