Review of Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009) by Swastik M — 08 Apr 2016
Not a commercial movie. For people who want good, talented work from the Bollywood industry, this is one movie you don't wanna miss.
Way underrated as far as direction goes. Neat, balanced performances by all of the main actors. Shimit seems obsessed with details which actually adds to the fun, if you look closely. Also, screenplay and color coordination in the frame is something he seems to be particularly interested in choreographing with his direction.
The story is a good one but if you want some new fiction, the kind that hasn't been explored before, this is ordinary for the most part, but keeps the Bollywood style intact without getting into crappy shots or item numbers. Couple of Burman scores here and there. No glossy, commercialized styling. Pure, neat performances by all those who were involved.
