Review of R.I.P.D. (2013) by Alex L — 08 Jan 2014
All I want when I see a movie is to entertained. Yes it is formulaic: but find me a movie that isn't. No film plot is ever really new -at its core- so I can't be too judgmental for the striking resemblance it has to Men in Black (though Men in Black IS better structurally, I'll admit).
All in all, despite small faults in the storyline- I was thoroughly entertained, from start to finish. Jeff Bridges was brilliant as a moody, quirky 19th century law-man, and there were some great comedic moments between him and Reynolds.
The romance was cute and playful. The special effects were terrific (with some definite Matrix moments). The dead guys were freaky and original. I LIKED IT AND I'M NOT ASHAMED!!!
