Review of Punisher: War Zone (2008) by Daryl K — 25 Oct 2012
This movie is homage to the old school Punisher comics from wayyyyyy back in the day. Violence, gore, blood, guts and bullets is what this film is full of and finally after three tries they finally got it right.
Frank Castle is played great by Ray Stevenson. Frank Castle isn't a man of many words, he doesn't talk things out he just shoots first and talks later, just like Stevenson. Did the film have a great story or great cast? No, not really.
The Punisher is about punishment. He is not the superhero who fights the bad guy ten times or saves the day. He hunts and kills the bad guys, plain and simple. This is an action movie that has the gore factor of a zombie movie.
If you can stomach that then it is worth watching. To be this film is what made the comic so great, it was gore before there was gore. It goes to show if you don't deviate from what makes something great you will get an awesome end result.
