Review of Punch-Drunk Love (2002) by Larry G — 05 Jan 2019
Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, perfectly timed, this film is fantastic on so many levels. Yes, itâ(TM)s odd. Yes, itâ(TM)s quirky. But, it is honestly refreshingly amazing on so many levels. This film should have better ratings, but I think the oddity of it throws people off.
I group this into P.T. Andersonâ(TM)s first grouping of films that reflects a particular style that is unique and his style has changed since these first 4 features. Adam Sandler protracted his character better than I think anyone else could have.
I love this film and I think that if I get a hankering for P.T. Anderson, this is the film I rely on because of its brevity. Itâ(TM)s hard to find time for a 3 hour flick. A 90 minute film can fit into just about any schedule.
