Review of Our Daily Bread (2006) by Aubrey N — 06 Jun 2009
The most stylish and haunting horror film I've seen in years. Torture, rape, poison, gore, and dehumanization on a grand scale, rendered in mesmerizing images, and unhindered by clumsy dialogue or narrative (or in fact ANY dialogue or narrative).
Of course, the distressing part is that it's entirely real, and it's happening in the name of my dinner. Ugh. A perfect film, in its way. Like Koyaanisqatsi but with a point.
