Review of Oranges and Sunshine (2010) by Tom V — 01 Feb 2012
An amazing film. A story based ok the real life events surrounding the investigation of the deportation of over 130,000 English children to Australia in the 1950s. The heartwarming moments throughout the film are equally matched by the ones that make your heart ache for these characters.
Make no mistake this is a very sad film, however one that you shouldn't miss. Emily Watson's fantastic performance as the lead, Margret Humphries is equally matched by the supporting roles of Jack and Len.
If I have any problem with the film it would be the conclusion and the resolution in that it fails to provide any macro scale closure and because of this fails to tell the whole tale that the film is trying to tell.
However the content that is covered is brilliant and is a must watch esspesially if your Australian and/or English.
