Review of Open Water 2: Adrift (2006) by Holly X — 27 Nov 2009
Much too flawed to rank among other great sea thrillers, but Adrift is still quite entertaining.
What annoyed me about the movie was several things. For one, the characters were pretty much 2-D, with no real depth or emotion, leaving us feel virtually nothing if and when they die.
Along with that, there are several let's say blunders that the writers make. For one, the characters often complain about not being able to hold themselves up, and one character even drowns. In a couple of scenes, it is clear that the characters are holding on to a support thing on the side of the boat. This is just one of several silly things in the movie, that I felt could've been amended if the script was checked.
Anyway, despite all my whining, I actually did like the film, and give it a positive rating. Mainly because what the movie does do well is simply entertain.
Nothing terribly special.
But I heard Open Water is better, so I;ll check that out.
