Review of Once (2007) by Iris B — 18 Mar 2012
A lovely rendezvous of two very talented musicians, falling in love with the music and the friendship that yields a beautiful album. Astounding film considering it was done on a budget with two non-actor leads.
The story quite reminds me of Sophia Coppola's Lost In Translation somehow. It's rare I come across a movie that revolutionizes the way I look at the film industry. There's still hope and it shows in Once.
It's unique and poignant and it directly hits you in all places. Never have I seen a movie like this that made music its very core; usually typical movies just have the OST as its auxilliary. But this, music is what fuels its beauty.
