Review of New Town Killers (2008) by Su K — 05 Jan 2010
I commented in my review of trainspotting that Scotland (and the UK) seems to be totally behind that movie even though in my opinion it is crap, well New Town Killers is a Scottish movie that should replace trainspotting in there hearts.
It is a conventional murder based thriller but with a difference, the villains of the peace want you to play a game.
In reference to the characters I think Dougary Scott was essentially born to be a gangster and provided surprising depth to a shallow character and as the only 'Known' in the he certainly didn't let the side down with his performance.
James Person certainly has a future in my opinion and really generated strong empathy from the audience and it has to be said that I felt myself willing him on.
In summary this movie is an above average thriller with distinct charm, it is gritty and entertains throughout and I would certainly recommend.
