Review of Muscle Shoals (2013) by Julia L — 28 Jul 2013
I just saw this documentary at the Waterfront Film Festival in South Haven MI. It is a riveting story how wonderful, soulful, music came out of a small place in Alabama. There are great interviews with Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Percy Sledge, Greg Allman and many others.
It has clips of incredible music of soul, Southern Rock, British Invasion by those who invented the genres. And equally as fascinating is the back story of Rick Hall and The Swampers, the original studio musicians.
Highly recommended.
