Review of Mrs Palfrey at The Claremont (2005) by Polly J — 10 Oct 2007
A delightful adaptation of a book by Elizabeth Taylor about the loneliness of the aging. It is a study of how easy it is for a family to forget their own - and how they are all the poorer for it. The mutually meaningful relationship between Mrs.
Palfrey and a fictitious grandson (her own daughter and grandson are always too busy), Ludo Meyer demonstrates that there is much the elderly may still share with the young...the end is especially eye opening.
..very poignant warning and yet one that will, no doubt, go unheeded by most.
