Review of Memories of Matsuko (2006) by Nina C — 08 Jul 2007
I loved the art direction on this film. It took Baz Luhrmann's aesthetic and pushed it even further. Miki Nakatani's performance was wonderful. My one crticism is that I'm a little weary of seeing the same old story of female suffering and oppression.
.. not to mention the "virgin-whore" complex. Despite this, I was moved and I do think that overall the film was well made.
