Review of McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971) by Neville F — 21 Sep 2007
John Altman's little known best film, at least in my opinion. Leonard Cohen's is the perfect soundtrack to this most unusual western - with Warren Beatty as the bluffing gunman/gambler/businessman, Julie Christie as the drug-crazed madame and the claustrophobic snowy setting in a mountain mining settlement.
Rivetting, bloodthirsty, intelligent, sad and mind-altering. Shame the DVD has not had the soundtrack sorted because it sounds awful.
