Review of Martha, Inc.: The Story of Martha Stewart (2003) by Ali S — 08 Aug 2009
For some reason, I actually found the story of Martha Stewart's life to be an interesting one. Of course, I have never seen Martha in "real life" but it seems to me that her character in this film is really overacted. For the most part, the point of the film seemed to be to tear her down but while doing so, the viewer actually ends up feeling quite sorry for her.
The only reason that I picked this up to watch was because it was filmed, for the most part, at the seminary I attended in Halifax. It was fun to recognize the locations of the scenes.
For what appears to be a made-for-tv, low budget movie, they did an alright job. The biggest obstacle for me was actually believing that Cybill Shepherd was Martha Stewart. I didn't think the resemblance was all that great, either in appearance or mannerism.
