Review of Mame (1974) by Louise B — 21 Jan 2009
A well adapted musical turned, as unfortunately often is the case, into a cinematic yawnfest that casts the wrong people in the wrong places. Lucille Ball is a nightmare as the charmingly brash but elegant, Auntie Mame, and Bea Arthur simply isn't as on top of her game as she was when she performed in this with Angela Landsbury.
By all accounts a fairly dull affair.
