Review of Magnificent Obsession (1935) by Michael L — 27 Oct 2008
I think in order to appreciate this film, you need to appreciated 1950s melodrama. douglas sirk was the unquestioned master of this style and this is definetely among his best films. unlike a lot of melodrama, the acting is quite superb.
rock hudson was good but jane wyman really sold the story. after this and johnny belinda, I think she should have played more disabled people.
