Review of Maelström (2000) by Alexander J — 01 Jun 2007
Another young Québec-born director few people have taken notice of up to this point. Denis Villeneuve doesn't make a lot of movies, but the ones he has made speak for themselves. Innovative (speaking about a talking fish), with an excellent plot and very character-based (especially the women get most of it).
Add an intriguing plot to that and you have a feast for the soul. A valuable addition to the world of film, in many aspects.
