The final image of the film, the sight of someone's heart breaking, quietly, with nobody else noticing (R. Thomas) is hard to shake-off. You see all his hopes turn into resignation in a split second while he drinks his coffee.
Its the most depressing image of a man drinking coffee ever put on screen.
