Review of Lost City Raiders (2008) by Steve S — 01 Jun 2010
*1/2 (out of four).
An attempt at capturing the same adventurous feeling of a movie like "Raiders of the Lost Ark", but the cheap effects, poor script and lackluster acting sinks this oceanic actioner.
James Brolin is the father and leader of a small group of ocean pilagers. The ice caps have melted and there is now only a small amount of land left that isn't underwater. A greedy landowner (Ben Cross) believes if he is able to recover the ancient staff Moses used to part the Red Sea, then he can make the waters recede.
The silly plot offers a laughable resolution and features a really bad performance by Elodie Frenck as a fast talking waitress turned mechanics expert. Ian Somerhalder comes off best and shows he could actually pull off being an action hero if the right film came along. This isn't that film.
