Review of Kull the Conqueror (1997) by Kim - — 14 Dec 2008
Kull was one of Robert E. Howard's lesser-known heroes (many of the Kull stories were re-written as Conan stories). Anywho, Kull becomes the king of Valusia and takes on all sorts of supernatural threats against his throne.
Kevin Sorbo was starring in the TV series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" so this was a bit of type-casting on his part. The major problem with this film is that it often takes itself too seriously and Sorbo, a reasonably good actor who has a wicked sense of humour, ends up playing the grim avenger too much for my tastes.
Tia Carrere is the hot evil sorceress while Karina Lombard is the hot concubine. Worth a look, the production values are way better than many of the cheesy Sword & Sorcery films that followed in the wake of CONAN in the early 1980s.
