Review of Kaboom (2010) by John V — 23 Mar 2011
They shock you, they make you smile, they make you laugh, they make you uncomfortable, they may even disgust you. their use of color, style, and music tickles your artistic senses. the extreme violence and bizarre sexual situations pique your interest. all of this is perfectly normal when you're watching the films of gregg araki.
At 82 minutes in length, don't expect much of a story. then again, if you're at all familiar with mr. araki's work, you know better than to expect a coherent plot. it's the look and feel that drive his movie's home. and this one is no exception.
My only gripe is the last 10 minutes or so. it strongly gives off the impression that there wasn't enough money in the production budget to film an additional half hour. otherwise, excellent work.
