Review of Kabei: Our Mother (2008) by Sedney D — 24 Apr 2009
A movie that I am just at a loss of words to describe. Needless to say, by the end of the movie most viewers will be left in tears in seeing the situation this family has gone through in World War II Japan has the father of the family is arrested for 'thought crimes', leaving the mother (the 'Kabei' of the title) struggling to keep the family going.
Directed by Yoji Yamada (of Twilight Samurai fame).
