Review of Jumanji (1995) by Graeme S — 24 Sep 2011
This is actually one of my favourite movies of all time. This is easily one of Robin William's better films as he is not type casted as an annoying comic relief character. It has all the elements of a fairy tale.
Moral of the story? Check: Face your fears and you can overcome them. Fantastical Setting? Check: A mythical jungle inside a board game that enters the real world as you play. Relatable Characters? Check: There are a variety of different characters that people can relate to.
Overall it also has the characters overcoming trauma of sorts and actually pulls it off quite well. This is definitely a movie that I can recommend as it has a nice mix between practical and computer effects that can still hold up a bit today.
