Review of Jesus Christ Superstar (2000) by Pui T — 15 Jan 2011
Visually, I find it superior to the film adaptation. Gale Edwards directs a brilliant adaptation of the timeless musical, complete with machine guns and Roman storm troopers!
The main faults lie with the leading men (Carter and Pradon), who are incredibly weak compared to Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson of the original film. Other than that, the rest of the cast (particularly the mischievous Herod, played by Rik Mayall) sounds great.
