Review of Janis: Little Girl Blue (2015) by Virginia M — 08 Nov 2015
Saw this documentary at SF International Film Society last night. This is a brilliant film. Amy Berg has created an honest portrayal of Janis Joplin. Its filled with Janis from her earliest performances to her last.
Interviews from high school friends and friends, band mates, and lovers from her early days in the San Francisco music scene during the '60's. Thanks to the cooperation of her surviving family members, the film has Janis footage never seen before and includes her own photos and letters to her family.
I almost thought it was Janis actually reading her own letters. I will go see this film again when it is released.
