Review of Hula Girls (2006) by Kenny G — 12 Oct 2007
Having lived in the area where the story takes place, and having actually visited the Joban Hawaiian Center, this movie has a special place in my heart. It's kind of like the "Fargo" of Japanese movies.
For those who understand Japanese, the dialect is what makes the dialogue hilarious. If you're just reading the subtitles, it will be a nice heart warming story. And for those who grew up in Northern California during the 70s and 80s, imagine if a movie was made about the construction of Great America - pretty absurd!
