The 1st time I came a-X this film was in an article in newsweek re: wartime films featuring children & released w/in the same period (empire of the sun and au revoir les enfants). the main thing I noticed was that they all featured the pov of boys; the 2nd thing I realised was that I wanted to watch them regardless - just so that I could decide for myself whether they were worth the print.
and they all were.
