Review of Hoop Dreams (1994) by Roger H — 18 Aug 2007
The Greatest Documentary of the 90's maybe greatest ever made. This film was prevented from even getting a Nomination for Best Documentary at the Oscars because the voters did not want it in the category. Maybe it was bigotry, but for those who have seen the movie, know it deserves more than just a golden statue.
It's about two high school basketball players trying to go 'pro' and claiming their ticket out of the 'ghetto'.
Forget Coach Carter. (seriously overrated).
Inspirational.
