Review of Hollow in the Land (2017) by Farah R — 09 Jun 2018
A gripping tale that avoids the Canadian tendency to dwell too long in silent, moody frames, and instead hooks the viewer into the darker side of what can emerge from the self-policing, self-protecting reality that is many rural Canadian communities.
It's a disciplined, thoughtful and muscular film that honestly showcases the darker potential of one of Canada's geographies and communities.
