Review of Heaven's Gate (1980) by Zoran S — 18 Apr 2008
With its far-left/ Marxist sentiments about the stark battle between corporate capital and immigrant farmers American West, Heaven's Gate probably was doomed to fail. This is one of most bluntly anti-capitalist films ever made.
And while the film often over-romanticizes the immigrants, its Marxist leanings are refreshing in a usually libertarian and/ or conservative genre.
