Review of Hatchet (2006) by Eetu H — 20 Oct 2008
What makes this movie great is the fact it's inspired by 80's horror flicks, such as most of the Friday the 13th's and various others. It's not the type of horror movie to make you feel scared and want to cover your eyes during the death scenes.
This movie makes you cheer for the killer, as he is supernaturally strong, and ugly as hell. The deaths are meant to make you laugh and high five your buddy next to you. It's in that fact that this movie does really well.
The death scenes are amazingly original in the over-the-top fashion. Another thing that sticks out well, is the cast of characters. Everyone is very different and funny in there own way. Another great thing is that there's no CG crap.
They did all the effects practically. This is towards the top of my list for cheesy, fun, gory, comedy-filled, horror movies. Right up there with Feast. I can't wait for the sequel to this.
