Review of Green Room (2016) by David O — 04 May 2016
Wow, what an explosive follow up to Blue Ruin! I had very high expectations going into Green Room, but damn if Jeremy Saulnier didn't blow me away with the best thriller I've seen in a long time.
The cast is uniformly perfect, with Anton Yelchin and Patrick Stewart both giving incredible performances. I can't think of a time that I've ever seen or heard Stewart and felt such fear. It was exhilarating to see him play so against type, and in such an extreme way.
Granted he doesn't get in on the violence at hand, his commanding presence during the proceedings alone, along with his highly manipulative and calm way about his tone is enough to give you chills.
His Darcy is truly an iconic villain, and Green Room is a movie that deserves cult status.
