Review of Grave Encounters 2 (2012) by Vincent R — 03 Oct 2012
You've got to hand it to the Vicious Brothers comedic genius for found-footage satire. While the original fim pokes fun at adults, the follow up chooses to dumb down its audience with predictable, self-absorbed film students.
The duplicated casting call of Robert Pattison, Amy Adams, and Taylor Lautner seems a downright intentional attempt to draw more press to an otherwise forgettable film and its terrible actors. Even the gags, possibly mistaken as homages to the casual viewer, are blatant thievery, beginning with the Cloverfield monster (as seen in the theatrical poster) and ending with the hospital tile resembling our favorite Dream Master's Christmas sweater.
There is nothing original about this film that should save it from the $5 bin at Walmart. Grave Encounters 2 shits on everything great about the original and desperately tries to sell the viewer an unnecessary mythos off the hospital's "true" intentions.
