Review of God Told Me To (1976) by Joe M — 28 Jun 2018
Whoa! Wasn't expecting 'God Told Me To' to be the film it is - in a good way!
In the vein more of 'The Omen' than 'Rosemary's Baby' then with some really off-the-wall WTF elements thrown in (I won't go in to so as not to spoil the film). Not the greatest film, but a real gritty 1970's NYC feel, solid performances, especially LoBianco as the detective investigating the divinely inspired killing, and then the hooey factor that just goes from slightly disturbing to down right nutty disturbing. And the ending confrontation will just leave you gaping in...I don't know what!!!
If you like weird mixes of the religious (die-hard Catholics avoid this film since its blasphemous on so many levels!), the supernatural and science fiction, this movie has got it all!
