Review of Frenzy (2015) by Shawn W — 22 Oct 2012
An odd film for Hitchcock to direct very late in his career, but a very entertaining, humorous and interesting one, and Frenzy is the movie where "The Hitchcock touch came back".... Hitch returned to London, it had been 20plus years, but he decided to return and direct this incredibly different film, when compared to his others, in terms of nudity, violence and language.
He wanted something different to happen, and he experimented by pushing the envelope. The classic tongue scene from the first necktie murder we witness in the film featuring Barbara Leigh Hunt was just absolutely brilliant, and is one of my favourite scenes in cinema history.
Frenzy is ludicrous, ridiculous, flamboyant, over the top and incredibly over-done, but it's just so right. It works on so many levels. A classic cult favourite of an estimable value.. A solid 4.2/5 HIGHLY RECCOMENDED.
