Review of Frantic (1988) by James T — 13 Mar 2008
This is a great movie. Harrison Ford delivers his usual goodness. Roman Polanski has created a very effective thriller. The beginning is better than the end, but it is still great. Alot of comparisons have been made between this and Hitchcock films, and those comparisons are apt. One could ALMOST see James Stewart playing Harrison's character. Great suspense builder over all, losing points only for SLIGHT un-originality in the ending. But lets not blame Polanski, as the studio (damn them all) made him reshoot it to its present mediocre ending. but otherwise, highly recommended. Exactly what I needed to clear out the bad taste of 10,00 BC from my metaphorical pallette lol.
Oh, and don't forget to look for a slightly younger John Mahoney (plays Martin Crane, Frasiers dad, on the awesome show Frasier.) Hes got quite a good part in this film.
