Review of For Me and My Gal (1942) by Dan O — 04 Aug 2008
This is a lovely sweet picture about wartime America during the first World War (ironic as it was produced during the second). Coincidentally, it had a feel of advertising heroism and love that anyone can find overseas.
No, this movie had everything including soul, but there was hardly any plot; just another one of those damn forced films of MGM for the sake of glory that they sought in the young, high-rising, gorgeous, powerful actress following her monstrous success in Wizard of Oz.
Great start for Kelly though, and thank GOD.
