Review of For All Mankind (1989) by Matt B — 15 Jul 2009
I have been wanting to see this for years, and when I saw that Criterion was releasing it on Blu-Ray for the 40th anniversary of the moon landing, I was excited to go out and buy it. Having not being alive for any of the moon landings, I can't imagine what it was like watching them live on TV, but this documentary really captures the excitement of exploring new territory as told by the men who went there.
Many of the images are mind-blowing, and even though we have seen much further in our universe than the moon, the fact that we had a goal like this to achieve and succeded in only a few years provides such a sense of pride that we rarely feel in this country or as mankind as a whole in the present.
