It is a delightful movie from start to finish. It has two Academy Award level performances from Hugh Grant and Meryl Streep. It is also beautifully directed by Stephen Frears.

The movie captures a certain upper class milieu of the 1940s that reminds one of the great screwball comedies of the 1930s. The rich are oddball, madcap, and all con artists. Simon Helberg, "Howard of the Big Bang Theory," gives a really sharp and charming performance as a young pianist both disgusted and entranced by the absurd con-game he is sucked, screaming and clawing, into.

This is a bright, smart comedy with great performances and atmosphere. It is not a laugh out loud comedy, but there are snickers and guffaws in every minute.
