Review of Flash Point (2007) by Ian C — 26 Nov 2018
It's not one of Donnie Yen's best movies, but it's certainly a decent one. The plot is pretty simple, but it's there, and Louis Koo and Collin Chou give solid performances (Donnie is more of a stiff in this one than in some of his earlier roles). The part that'll have everyone talking is the MMA-style brawl between Donnie and Collin at the end of the movie. It took some getting used to, especially as someone who's a big fan of traditional cinematic martial arts combat, but it did work for the movie. I'm also a sucker for a love story, and "Flash Point" has a pretty decent one.
All in all, not a bad film, but if you really wanna see Donnie Yen in action, check out some of his earlier work ("In The Line of Duty IV," "Legend of the Wolf," "Iron Monkey").
