Review of Eyes Wide Shut (1999) by Derek D — 06 Nov 2012
"Eyes Wide Shut" Is An Extraordinary Cinematic Achievement. Stanley Kubrick's Final Film Is Also His Greatest. Tom Cruise Plays A Doctor Named Bill Hartford And Nicole Kidman Plays His Wife, Alice.
Their Performances Are Extraordinary, But The Film Is Focused On Atmosphere And Themes. The Cinematography Is Absolutely Gorgeous And The Direction Is Some Of The Strongest I Have Ever Seen. The Film Is Constantly Spellbinding And Surprisingly Moving.
"Eyes Wide Shut" Has The Feel Of A David Lynch Film And Is Full Of Surrealism. The Orgy Scene Is One Of The Most Moving, Haunting, And Beautiful Sequences In Cinema History. The Power Of This Film Has Never Been Replicated.
The Film Always Feels Alive, The Mark Of A Truly Great Film.
