Review of Eraserhead (1977) by James R — 13 Feb 2010
The word "surrealism" gets tossed around quite a bit, but not since "Un Chien Andalou" has there been a film more worthy of the title. "Eraserhead" takes the nightmare logic of Orson Welles' "The Trial", and purifies it to the point where any trace of traditional rationality is completely destroyed, making it the most accurate portrayal of a nightmare ever filmed.
This is David Lynch's first, and greatest.
