Review of Eighth Grade (2018) by Jordan L — 01 Jan 2019
ï¿ 1/2~Eighth Gradeï¿ 1/2(TM) has the best acting from a teenager that has ever graced cinema. The spot on depiction of 8th gradeï¿ 1/2(TM)s awkwardness and loneliness is cringeworthy, in the most fabulous way.
Kaylaï¿ 1/2(TM)s nervousness, vulnerably, and self consciousness is exuberant in the actressï¿ 1/2(TM) natural portrayal of anxiety. We know Kayla will be okay because we were all once Kayla. This actress, at such a young age, captured an ingredient to being transcendent.
.. being uncomfortable in a characterï¿ 1/2(TM)s shoes especially when the character feels the same way. Itï¿ 1/2(TM)s okay to not want to be this character sometimes because we all donï¿ 1/2(TM)t want to be us sometimes.
Thatï¿ 1/2(TM)s the brilliance of this movie, to pick a story that everyone can relate to and cast someone who is going though the experience while filming. Showing us this film now is like a time capsule to anyone who has ever been in 8th grade.
. majority of us.
