Review of Easy Rider (1969) by David K — 13 Jun 2009
What is secretly a pro-marijuana film, turns out to be an amazing portrayal of America, maybe the best ever put on celluloid. "Easy Rider" has been very well documented throughout its history so full reviews can be read elsewhere. All I can really say is that this film is utter perfection.
It's gorgeous. It's profound. It's emotional. It captures an era perfectly but also analyzes it at the same time. The film doesn't alienate the audience by portraying two rebellious youths, but asks us to sympathize and go along on their journey. "Easy Rider" is widely considered to be one of the greatest American films ever made. I just happen to find that to be an understatement.
