Review of Easy Rider (1969) by Matt O — 28 Nov 2010
Cult classic film that made Jack Nicholson a star as alcoholic ACLU country lawyer George Hanson donning that Michigan college sweater and gold face-mask-less football helmet on the back of Peter Fonda's Captain America Harley Davidson.
Dennis Hopper with a surprisingly great directorial debut inspired by the editing and filming techniques of the French New Wave and European directors he admired at the time. Hopper set out to win Cannes and did win Best Film by a New Director.
A great piece of 60's nostalgia. The ultimate rebel counterculture film. The cinematography by Lazlo Kovacs A.C.S. is absolutely stunning. A great late 60's rock soundtrack enhances the visuals.
